Race History

PYR is a privately run, professional motorcycle road racing team, owned and managed by the well-known and respected motorcycle racer, Paul Young. Since 2001, the company has operated from its workshop facilities, located at Mallory Park Race Circuit, in the East Midlands. The team competes in the globally renowned British Superbike Championships, promoted by International Sporting Events Promoters, DORNA UK Ltd.

PYR Triumph 96Paul Young’s progressive career boasts British & Australian titles, and experience in numerous classes including; Australian, British and World Supersport, Australian and British Superbike & Superstock, World 500cc Grand Prix and World Endurance Championships. Paul has stood on the podium in all the BSB classes he has contested; Superbike, Supersport, Superstock. His team has enjoyed successful and lasting partnerships with many top brand sponsors.

Taking his vocation a step further, Paul Young has become a test rider acting as consultant for companies such as Pirelli Tyres, Superbike Magazine and Triumph Motorcycles.

PYR Racing Team

PYR has always played a part in helping the careers of young British riders.  Notably, riders include:

  • John Kirkham ‘Young British Rider of the year 2001’ Rode with PYR in the British Superbike Championship 2002-2003
  • Peter Ward    ‘National Superstock Cup Champion 2005’ 4th in the ‘Yamaha R6 Cup 2003’

PYR Triumph

Working with Triumph’s R&D Department, Paul became directly involved with the development of the Daytona 675 Triple. With huge enthusiasm for this new model, Paul decided the machine must be raced and initiated its homologation into the ‘British Supersport Championship’. Paul Young Racing evolved into PYR Triumph, contesting the British Supersport Series.

Daytona 675 Race Kits and Specialised Parts

2006 awarded Paul Young top ten finishes and a wealth of racing intelligence. This qualified Paul to consult with Triumph in the development of their ‘Daytona 675 Race Kits’. Specifically for race track use, the kits are available to both racers and track day enthusiasts.
